Chairman Watson and members of the County Council:

The League of Women Voters of Howard County supports Resolution 98-2008, which adds 19 historic sites to the County Historic Sites Inventory, last updated in 2007 by Resolution 117. The League supported Resolution117-2007 that proposed 4 criteria for including historic sites on the County Historic Sites Inventory.

The League supports the 4 criteria, which are the same, adopted in Resolution 117-2007. The League continues to urge consideration for the fact that not all 4 criteria need be met in order to have a building or structure included on the Historic Sites Inventory.

We therefore ask for an amendment to Resolution 98 that would insert the word "or " on line 27 and line 28 of page 2.

The League support for this Resolution is based on our Land Use, Planning and Zoning: Natural Resources position to preserve historic sites and support for a periodical comprehensive inventory of historically significant sites.

We urge your consideration of our amendment and support for Resolution 98-2008.
